Sidra Qadir Interview with TV Presenter Saba Sadik!
As I sat sipping my latte I tried to imagine the woman who would walk through the door. I was about to meet Sidra Qadir, a talented makeup artist. I was hoping to gain an insight into the world of a woman who has two very different passions.
Sidra, you come from a legal background of over 10 years…so where did makeup come in?
Makeup has always been a passion of mine, I have been doing it for the same amount of time I spent in the law. Make up allows me to exert a more creative and technical side to my work whether it be Bridal, Celebrity, Catwalk, Magazine or TV work.
As a Makeup Artist what helps you decide when looking at a person what style of hair and makeup would suit them?
The shape of the face is important when determining what hair and makeup style suits you. I apply different makeup techniques that allow me to enhance the best features of my client’s face. I would also look at what hairstyles would suit my client best, for example whether they should have it up, down, side parted.
How is Party Makeup different from Regular Makeup?
Party Makeup is very different to the regular Makeup we apply in the day. As party makeup is often scheduled in evenings, I apply a more glittery and dazzling look. It’s important to go for a look that suits the mood of the event and ensuring that makeup suits your persona.
So say my dream man has finally popped the question. When should I call you, before I have the dress or after?
Firstly that would be congratulations to the bride to be! The next step would be to pick what colours you are anticipating on wearing for your special day. Once this has been decided you would now call us to book your trial.
I’m a really indecisive person, what if I came to you and didn’t have a clue about what I wanted?
It is advisable that you have a makeup trial before making a booking.
The Trial would last anywhere between 2-3 hours either at SQ’s Makeup Studio in Manchester or we would come out to you if you preferred, whatever would be convenient for you.
The trial allows you to discuss your requirements in greater detail and individually tailor a make-up plan to suit your look until you are 100% satisfied with it! We would look through Magazines or if you brought clippings of ideas and styles you like, that would be extremely helpful in getting an idea of what you are looking for. I would be able to replicate the look or take features from it that you like or even suggest what would be suited to you best and what wouldn’t.
How important are the brushes and products that you use when applying makeup?
Quality brushes allow you to apply makeup with greater accuracy and precision and are an important tool when blending makeup. In this way, I am able to achieve the most natural, flawless makeup look possible on all of my clients.
The same rule applies when using makeup products. Top quality makeup brands are important when applied to your face. I personally use Mac and Bobby Brown, to achieve that smooth, long lasting, natural looking effect.
As a person and a business woman what values are important to you?
Reliability is very important; if you contact me I will always get back to you. Trust and loyalty is also very important, I get a lot of clients coming back because I’ve earned that trust by providing a good service.
